Hi Jane, great to see a new post again- I always enjoy them! Anyways shame you're going away this weekend as I'm coming to Paris with 2 girlfriends of mine and would've liked to have meet for a coffee- maybe another time if you and Scott ever fancy a trip to Amsterdam! Anyhow, was wondering if you could give me some tips on great cafes and restaurants in Paris- I never seem to have any luck and need a local's knowledge! We're looking for funky and not too pricey. We're staying in the 2nd. But also would love to find a hidden gem in St Germaine region. If you're too busy no worries, just know there's so many great place in Paris I want to uncover! Keep enjoying the adventure! Love Sue (Jane's sister)xx
ReplyDeleteHi Sue! That's a shame we will miss you this weekend, though I can certainly recommend some good spots for you to try in Paris. They're a little spread out over the city, though nothing's too difficult from the 2nd and if you're anything like me you will go anywhere for a good coffee (which can be a challenge to find in Paris)! For coffee and an easy lunch, you can head to Coutume Cafe (7th); Tuck Shop (10th); Kooka Boora (9th); or Ten Bells (10th). Bob's Juice Bar & Rose Bakery are also good for something fresh. For a quick bite on the run, there's amazing falafel at L'As du Fallafel, in the Marais, on Rue des Rosiers. For dinner it's a mixed bag and the best ones you can't book, so it's turn up and try your luck. My favourite is tiny and homely, with local produce - it's called Le Timbre & is in the 6th (you can book here & best to do so in advance). If you want something more up beat, try Les Cocquettes (7th); or Candelaria (3rd), which is a tiny mexican place - so small it looks more like a take-away shop but the food is good & it does have an awesome hidden cocktail bar out the back! Otherwise, there are so many great spots in St Germain that you can just wander and you will find something that appeals. I may have overwhelmed, but I hope it helps and you enjoy yourselves in Paris. We will be visiting Amsterdam sometime soon, so I will let you know when we are in town x
